Self Expressions Gallery Just South of Omaha, NE is a little town of Nebraska City. A weekend trip to Omaha, a cool but sunny day, and the hunt for adventure took us off the highway and into Nebraska City. Why take the interstate when you can travel the backroads?

While driving around looking for a great lunch spot, we happened by a sign that caught my attention. Self Expressions Gallery. Classes, artists, and more. Sounds like my kind of place! Of course, we had to stop by this local art gallery and say hello.   We walked in and immediately felt the artistic flair of the space. The atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable. The owner of this local art gallery, Honey Lynn Self, greeted us and encouraged us to look around. The wide variety of art from paintings, woodworking, quilts, and glass was very impressive. There was a little something that would match anyone’s taste.

Ms. Self shared her excitement for the opportunity to support local artists and to provide a space that they can showcase their work. The goal of bringing art to the community is reflected in her list of available classes. It is a great way to spend an afternoon. Artists and those who do not consider themselves artists can find success and be proud of what they create.  

While we were there, the staff mentioned a “must see” in Omaha called the Hot Spot!  A quick internet search let us know it was indeed going to be the next stop on our adventure.  Stay tuned for more info on this stop. 

It is worth your time!

The idea of a local art gallery helps to bring the arts to everyone and makes it attainable for those just beginning or the artists who are anxious to showcase their work. Seek out your own small local art gallery and support a local artist. Take a class to try something new or rekindle an old interest. It will be worth your time.
